Aarsleff wins new offshore wind turbine contract
Aarsleff and German Bilfinger Berger GmbH have entered into a contract with Sund & Bælt Holding A/S to execute the foundations for seven offshore wind turbines north of the island of Sprogø.
The contract has a value of approx. DKK 100 million and consists of production and positioning of seven gravitation foundations ballasted and placed on the seabed in depths up to 17 metres.
The foundations are to be cast during the spring in Swinoujscie in Poland where Aarsleff and Bilfinger Berger already have set up production facilities and started casting the 90 foundations which are to be installed at the Rødsand 2 Offshore Wind Farm south of Lolland during the year. The installation of the seven foundations north of Sprogø begins this summer and will be finalised during September.
According to Sund & Bælt, the purpose of the installation of the wind turbines is that A/S Storebælt is to produce sufficient electricity to cover its own energy consumption to the greatest possible extent. Also, the small offshore wind farm will be a showcase for Danish wind turbine technology – both for the 25 million persons who cross the Great Belt Link each year and not least in connection with the UN Conference on Climate Change which is to held in Denmark at the end of 2009.
The contract does not give rise to a change in the outlook for the profit for the financial year 2008/2009.
