When joint sewer pipes and other pipe systems are put under pressure by large amounts of water, mixed rainwater and wastewater can overflow. Untreated water will flow directly into nature or flood residential areas where it will pose a significant environmental risk and health hazard.

Storing the extra amounts of water
Aarsleff has many years of experience in constructing reservoirs, including reservoir pipes that collect surplus rainwater and wastewater during heavy rainfall until there is sufficient capacity in the treatment plant. This prevents untreated water from flooding the streets, gardens and other areas – and prevents water from being led into streams, lakes and the sea.
