In an equally shared joint venture with BAM International bv, Per Aarsleff A/S has won a road construction contract in Tanzania. The client is the Millennium Challenge Account of Tanzania (MCA-T), and the contract has a value of USD 97 million.
The Aarsleff/BAM joint venture will be renovating a 95 km stretch of the trunk road between Laela and Sumbawanga in the south-west of Tanzania.
The client, MCA-T, is a five year broad-based bilateral development fund run by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a US government agency created to reduce poverty through sustainable economic growth.
Currently, the same joint venture is renovating a 150 km stretch of the Tanzania Zambia Highway between Iyovi and Iringa for TANROADS, the Tanzania National Roads Agency, which will be completed by mid 2011.
Works are planned to start in June 2010 and is expected to be completed by mid 2013.
The order does not affect Aarsleff’s expectations for the financial year 2009/2010.
