Bridges for the Odin’s Bridge project in Odense

Aarsleff has signed a contract with Odense Municipality for the construction of two bridges for the Odin’s Bridge project across Odense Canal.

The bridge project is part of the Canal Connection in Odense where a fixed road connection across the canal is to provide a better traffic flow in and around Odense. Odin’s Bridge consists of several elements; the bridges facing the canal, a swing bridge across the canal and an embankment. The road stretch will be four lanes with a two-way bicycle and pedestrian path.

The bridges are to be constructed on each side of the canal, and they will have a length of 80 metres and 280 metres, respectively. The bridges will be executed as parallel bridges with a total width of 25 metres. Besides the bridges, Aarsleff is to carry out a waiting berth for ships in the canal.

The contract value is approx. DKK 120 million. The work will begin on 1 February 2011 and will be completed in November 2012.

The order does not affect Aarsleff’s expectations for the financial year 2010/2011.
