Secant piles for the Sydhavnen Metro

For the establishment of the new Sydhavnen Metro, Aarsleff has installed 1,213 secant piles – overlapping drilled piles – as retaining walls to a depth of 28.5 metres for three future stations. The many secant piles are all installed in the Copenhagen limestone, which is hardened limestone with a very high degree of hardness, H5. Some of Aarsleff’s largest rigs were mobilised for the project, including Aarsleff’s largest rig BG55 – which is also the largest rig found in Northern Europe.
