Round reservoir in Aarhus
At Viby wastewater treatment plant in Aarhus, Aarsleff has constructed an equalising reservoir with a capacity of 16,000 cubic metres. The reservoir is round with a diameter of 54 metres and a depth of 9 metres. The work comprised sheet piling and concrete work, installation of precast concrete units as well as instrumentation and layout. The project also comprised the design of the structure and hydraulics as well as instrumentation for electricity, pumps and programming. A round reservoir takes up more space than a square-shaped one. However, the construction of a round reservoir is less expensive, as the bracing is made with concrete ring beams cast in situ.
