Coastal protection in Greenland
To prevent erosion of the coastline at Thule Air Base in Greenland, Aarsleff has carried out coastal protection. We have carried out drilling, blasting, transport and placing of stone as rockfill in front of an old disposal site. We have placed a total of 95,000 cubic metres of rockfill for the new coastal front. Planning and efficiency were the keywords of the project, as the construction season at Thule Air Base only runs from May to mid-September, and shipping to Thule is only possible in July, August and September.
